A small-group Winter Wildlife photography adventure for women and gender-diverse photographers.

You Didn’t Come This Far to Keep Waiting

Somewhere between a Wolf's howl echoing across a snow-covered valley and the press of your own shutter, something shifts.

This is a Winter Wildlife photography adventure in Yellowstone. But really, it's six days that will leave you more confident behind the camera, more connected to people who get it, and more amazed by what you're capable of than you were when you arrived.

No ego. No gear-shaming. No waiting for the "right time." Just you, the wild, and the people who'll cheer you on while you find out what you can do.

Takes 2 minutes. Applying doesn’t commit you to anything - it’s how we make sure this trip is right for you & you’re right for it.

This Is What Actually Happens Out There

Susan

Image of Coyote & Raven interaction by Susan, Winter 2024

Susan hadn’t been to Yellowstone since she was a kid. She wanted to experience this iconic landscape as an adult, camera in hand. That was Winter 2023. She was hooked and she’s been back for every trip since. The ethics, the small like-minded group, and the real-time learning make these the kinds of experiences that leave her rested and recharged, not drained.

Keri

Image of a Grizzly Bear by Keri, Spring 2025

Keri arrived nervous to take her camera off auto. Settings felt overwhelming, especially in the field where everything changes quickly. But she felt safe and supported, so she started asking questions, experimenting, letting herself play. By the end of the trip, she was more confident in her settings, able to be more present in each moment, and maybe just a little obsessed with Yellowstone (honestly, same).

Amber

Amber came for the adventure. She told herself, “if I come home with even one image I love, that’ll be enough.” She came home with memory cards full of images she couldn’t believe she’d taken; images that changed how she saw herself - not just as someone who loves Wildlife, but someone who’s proud of what she’s learned and created.

Why You’ll Love This Adventure

The Wildlife

The Tour

Explore both the Northern Range and Yellowstone’s limited-access interior from the warmth and comfort of our own private tour vehicle, stopping to photograph incredible Wildlife and warming up with coffee, tea, and hot cocoa in between encounters. Healthy breakfasts, lunches, and snacks are included. Gluten-free and vegetarian options are available.

Yellowstone in Winter is a wonderland for Wildlife lovers: Snow-dusted Bison, Wolves howling across a snowy landscape, and Elk silhouetted on a ridge line. You’ll have chances to photograph Bison, Moose, Wolves, Elk, Coyotes, Owls, Foxes, Bighorn Sheep, Eagles, Waterfowl, and more!

While no specific Wildlife sightings are ever guaranteed, our expert guides give us the best chance of finding them.

Rest & Recharge

We’re often so busy taking care of everyone else that we don’t take care of ourselves. In the stillness of Winter, there’s room to slow down, breathe, and reconnect - with the Land and Animals, with others, and with yourself. Your photography becomes less about “the shot” and more of a self-care practice. A chance to rest, recharge, and fill your memory card with images you can’t wait to share.

Still deciding? Stay in the loop.

If Yellowstone in Winter is calling but the timing or budget isn’t quite right yet, join my newsletter. You’ll get photography tips from the field, real trip stories, and first access when new dates open.

Here’s everything else you need to know before you say yes.

About me

Aela is an ethical Wildlife and Nature photographer and the founder of Intuitive Wildlife Photography. She leads immersive Wildlife photography experiences and offers coaching designed exclusively for women and gender-diverse people. In a traditionally male-dominated field, she's built something different: a space where you can learn, grow, and thrive without the ego.

Her approach centers on respect - for the wild places we're lucky to share, and for the fact that every one of us is part of the same interconnected web of life. It's her mission to help others recognize what we have in common with the species we photograph, and to walk away from a experience with more than just images, but a deeper connection to the natural world and to ourselves.

Aela lives among the traditional homelands of the Ute, Cheyenne, Arapaho, Apache, Dakota, and Lakota, among the Ponderosa forests in the foothills of the Colorado Rockies. She is a proud cat mom of 5, a Bird nerd, and a neurospicy native.
